I consider myself fortunate to work for a company like Shorenstein where excellence and integrity are not just the expectation, but also the norm.  It is the creativity and talent of our professionals which has allowed us to not only weather the inevitable ups and downs inherent in real estate investment, but to also succeed in the identification and successful execution of complicated and challenging investment opportunities.  We all work together in service of a common goal, which creates ample opportunities for collaboration and skill development in an engaging and thoughtful environment. - Mark Portner, Executive Vice President, Capital Formation
I never could have imagined when I took an entry level position in a building management office in San Francsico that 35 years later I would still be working for the same wonderful organization! As a young college graduate I took what seemed like an interesting position where I would have an opportunity to learn and grow my career. It turned into one of the best adventures of my life - I have been involved in managing over 6 million square feet of real estate in the Bay Area and have had the privilege of working with truly special people and forging lifelong relationships along the way! In addition to having learned much from my mentors, I have always felt valued, I have always felt that my opinion matters and I have always felt heard. I am so grateful for that decision I made 35 years ago. - Sheila Murphy, General Manager
Working at Shorenstein provides exposure to a dynamic realm where real estate investing is conducted with strategic foresight and deep market expertise. As an analyst, I have experienced how our commitment to comprehensive investment consideration and adding value contributes to an ever-changing workplace, which fosters professional growth. With over 60 years of refining our integrated platform, Shorenstein offers a rewarding career where individuals can maximize value while minimizing risk. - Deven Sharma, Analyst, Investments Group
No matter who you ask at Shorenstein, they’ll always say the same thing: it’s about the people; that’s what makes it such a great company to work for. My experience interning for Shorenstein was truly life-altering. It gave me the confidence I needed to know that I was capable of being successful in real estate and that there was no one path I had to take. Everything is a learning experience…another step toward reaching my goals. This experience would not have been so amazing without the people at Shorenstein. I am forever grateful to those I met along the way and will always hold Shorenstein close to my heart. – Teasha McKoy, Former Intern, PM&C
What distinguishes the culture at Shorenstein is how professionals with a wide range of experience and expertise - including investments, finance, operations, development, leasing and asset management - are organized and operate with a singular focus on one shared mission: sourcing and executing successful investments across markets and cycles. Shorenstein’s operating model, compensation policies and employee development programs are all designed to ensure that everyone in the company understands that they are in the same boat rowing in the same direction towards a common goal. This culture of collaboration creates clarity of purpose in executing day-to-day responsibilities, offers ongoing cross-training opportunities, and recognizes the importance of each team member’s contributions to company success. – Glenn Shannon, Retired Vice Chairman
