Brandon Shorenstein joined the company in 2012. After spending two years in the company’s New York office, focused on capital transactions and asset management, he relocated to San Francisco in 2014 to assume the role of executive vice president. He became vice chairman in 2016 and participates in the strategic direction of the company as a member of its executive committee and in the company’s investment activities as a member of its investment committee. In his role as co-chairman, Mr. Shorenstein works closely with Michael Rossi to oversee and guide the strategic direction of the company. He is also responsible for overseeing the investment performance of an office portfolio owned by the Shorenstein family.

Mr. Shorenstein serves as a co-chairman on the Advisory Board for the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.

Prior to joining the company, Mr. Shorenstein was an associate at Eastdil Secured on its investment sales team handling office, retail and hospitality transactions in the New York metro area. Previously, he was an investment banking analyst at Goldman Sachs & Co.

Mike Rossi began working with Shorenstein as a consultant in 1994, focusing on business planning, organizational development and succession planning. In 1996, Mr. Rossi was a founding member of the company’s advisory board and currently serves as its chairman.  Upon Doug Shorenstein’s death in 2016, Mr. Rossi became chairman of the company. In 2017, he became co-chairman, working closely with Brandon Shorenstein to oversee and guide the strategic direction of the company. He is chairman of the company’s executive committee and a member of its investment committee.

Mr. Rossi is a retired vice chairman of Bank of America Corporation, serving from 1993 to 1997. Prior to serving as vice chairman, Mr. Rossi was Bank of America’s Chief Credit Officer. Prior to that post, he held various executive positions. In 2003, he joined the executive committee of Cerberus Capital Management. From 2005 to 2007, Mr. Rossi was chairman and CEO of Aozora Bank, taking it public in November 2006. He also spent eight months as chairman of GMAC/ResCap.

Mr. Rossi is the senior advisor to the San Francisco 49ers, and lead director of the board of Five Points Corporation, and he is a former chairman of the board of the Claremont Graduate University.  He is a former senior advisor for Jobs and Economic Development for the Governor of the State of California, chairman of the California Workforce Development Board, a director of the California High Speed Rail Authority, chairman of the board of the Monterey Institute of International Studies, Lifesavers, the California Infrastructure and Economic Development Bank, Visit California, California China Trade Association, Energy Principal for the State of California, the American Diabetes Association of Northern California, Chairman of CASA, chairman of Cal Competes, board member of the San Francisco Opera, and board member of the University of California Art Museum. He also served on the President’s Campaign Cabinet for University of California at Berkeley, was chairman of the board of the Special Olympics Committee of Northern California, board member of the Thunderbird school of Global Management, board member of the National Urban League, board member of Union Pacific Resources, board member of Blue Lynx Corp, member of the nominating committee of the Bankers Association for Foreign Trade (BAFT) and a past president of the board of BAFT.

Mr. Rossi earned an A.B. from the University of California at Berkeley.

Glenn Shannon joined Shorenstein in 1994. After spending seven years heading the company’s New York office, he relocated to San Francisco to assume the role of president.  He became vice chairman in 2016 and participates in the strategic direction of the company as a member of its executive committee and in the company’s investment activities as a member of its investment committee.  As vice chairman, Mr. Shannon’s responsibilities include overseeing the company’s Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Risk Management, Property Management and Construction Services, and Operations functions.  In addition, Mr. Shannon serves as president of DWS Management Company LLC, the company that supports and advises the Shorenstein family with respect to its overall investment business activities.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Shannon worked for twelve years at the law firm of Shearman & Sterling LLP in New York in its Real Estate Group, the last four years as a partner.  At Shearman & Sterling, Mr. Shannon represented a wide range of domestic and international clients in acquisitions, sales, financings, joint ventures and leasing transactions.

Mr. Shannon is a member of the executive committee of the Bay Area Council and co-chairs its Workforce for the Future Committee; is a board member of the Committee on Jobs; is a member of Urban Land Institute and Lambda Alpha International; and is a member of The Real Estate Roundtable and co-chairs The Real Estate Roundtable Political Action Committee (REALPAC).  He also serves as co-chair of the Real Assets Advisory Committee for the Williams College Investment Office.

Mr. Shannon serves on the Advisory Board for Kinship Capital and for Carmel Partners, and serves as an independent non-executive director for The Addax and Oryx Group LLC.

Charlie Malet joined Shorenstein in 1996. He participates in the strategic direction of the company as a member of its executive committee. As president and chief investment officer, Mr. Malet’s responsibilities include directing the sourcing of investment opportunities for the company, managing dispositions, completing property financings and refinancings, developing and executing investment plans for all properties, and overseeing the investment performance of all assets. Mr. Malet chairs the company’s investment committee.

Mr. Malet is a member of the Urban Land Institute.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Malet was a vice president at Cornish & Carey Commercial for eight years, where he served as an agent for commercial properties and sales, handling leasing assignments for both landlords and tenants.

Bob Underhill joined Shorenstein in 2002. He is responsible for leading all of the company’s fund management activities, including fund-raising, investor relations, investor reporting, and portfolio management. He participates in the strategic direction of the company as a member of its executive committee and in the company’s investment activities as a member of its investment committee.

Mr. Underhill is a member of the board of directors of Opus Holdings, a trustee of the Princeton Theological Seminary and chairman of its investment committee. Additionally, Mr. Underhill is a member of the Real Estate Advisory Board of the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a member of the Urban Land Institute.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Underhill was a principal at Lazard Frères Real Estate Investors, where he was part of a management team that was brought in to manage and restructure investments in their fund portfolios. Prior to Lazard Frères, Bob worked for over 17 years in real estate investment and operations with LaSalle Partners and Security Capital Group.

Mr. Underhill graduated from Colby College with a B.A., and from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University with an M.B.A.

Stan Roualdes joined Shorenstein in 1988. He is responsible for overseeing the management and operation of the company’s national real estate portfolio, leading the physical and financial due diligence process for all acquisitions, financings and dispositions. His responsibilities include establishing management and operating policies, practices and standards, managing company resources to complete capital transactions, and ensuring tenant satisfaction and asset performance.

Mr. Roualdes is a member of the Institute for Real Estate Management, and an advisory committee member of The Real Estate Roundtable’s Homeland Security Task Force.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Roualdes worked at Coldwell Banker as Senior Vice President, Regional Manager for Northern California.

Mr. Roualdes graduated from University of San Francisco with a B.S., and from The Institute for Real Estate Management with a CPM (Certified Property Manager) certification.

Tom Hart joined Shorenstein in 1982. He is responsible for overseeing the company’s community, political, and governmental relations in the San Francisco Bay Area and plays a leading role in the company’s Bay Area development activities.

Mr. Hart is a board member of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association, and Urban Land Institute San Francisco District Council.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Hart worked as a vice president of development for Marriott International in Washington, D.C. where he was responsible for development, acquisition or joint venture for over 7,000 hotel rooms in 15 properties. In 1972 and 1973, Mr. Hart served as Special Assistant to President Richard Nixon at The White House.

Mr. Hart graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.S., and from Harvard Business School with an M.B.A.

Tony Calabrese joined Shorenstein in 2015. As a managing director of DWS Management Company LLC, he helps to oversee and manage the real estate investments of the Shorenstein family in a portfolio of office and multifamily properties, as well as the company-sponsored funds. Mr. Calabrese also participates in the company’s investment activities as a member of its investment committee.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Calabrese was a partner at Hendrie Lane Partners, where he was responsible for directing the firm’s office and residential investment platform and overseeing the management of their existing portfolio. Prior to Hendrie Lane Partners, Mr. Calabrese was a director at Crown Acquisitions, where he focused on acquiring urban mixed-use properties throughout the United States and Europe. From 2005 through 2011, Mr. Calabrese was an assistant vice president at Rockwood Capital, where he was responsible for sourcing, underwriting, evaluating, and closing over $1.2 billion in acquisitions along the Eastern United States. Prior to that, Mr. Calabrese was part of Rockwood’s asset management team, specializing in loan workouts and the management of over two million square feet of office, retail, and mixed-use assets.

Mr. Calabrese graduated from Seton Hall University with a B.A. and from New York University with an M.S. in Real Estate Finance. Prior to the start of his real estate career, Mr. Calabrese was a professional baseball player with the New York Yankees and New York Mets organizations.

Mark Portner joined Shorenstein in 1999. He oversees the Eastern United States Investment Group which includes Capital Transactions, Asset Management, Leasing, and Development. His responsibilities include overseeing the sourcing of investment opportunities and directing the underwriting, due diligence, structuring and closing of capital transactions. In addition, he is responsible for the investment performance of assets in the East through oversight of the development and execution of asset specific strategies during the company’s ownership.

Mr. Portner is a member of the Urban Land Institute.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Portner was a vice president at Carey Winston Company in Washington, D.C. where he specialized in the disposition of distressed loans.

Mr. Friedman joined Shorenstein in 2004. He oversees the Western United States Investment Group which includes Capital Transactions, Asset Management, Leasing, and Development. His responsibilities include overseeing the sourcing of investment opportunities and directing the underwriting, due diligence, structuring and closing of capital transactions. In addition, he is responsible for the investment performance of assets in the West through oversight of the development and execution of asset specific strategies during the company’s ownership.

Mr. Friedman is a member of the Urban Land Institute, Lambda Alpha International, the Real Estate Investment Advisory Council, and the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Friedman was a principal at Lend Lease Real Estate Investments, Inc. overseeing capital transaction and asset management assignments throughout the Western United States. Mr. Friedman continued in this role when he joined Morgan Stanley upon its acquisition of Lend Lease in 2003.

Mr. Friedman graduated from University of California at Berkeley with a B.A., and from University of California, Los Angeles Graduate School of Management with an M.B.A.

Matt Knisely joined Shorenstein in 2006. He is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, and closing capital transactions for the Eastern United States. He serves as the Asset Team Lead for designated properties with responsibility for developing and executing asset strategies.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Knisely was a vice president with Trilyn, LLC where he worked on the formation, fundraising and investing of a mezzanine debt fund. Previously, he was a vice president with L&L Acquisitions, LLC, where he was responsible for acquisitions, fundraising and portfolio management, and prior to L&L Acquisitions, worked as an associate in the Acquisitions Group for The Carlyle Group’s real estate opportunity funds.

Mr. Cooper is a board member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties San Francisco Bay Area chapter, and a member of the Urban Land Institute.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Cooper was a director at Eastdil Secured in San Francisco on their investment sales team handling office transactions in the Bay Area and Pacific Northwest. Previously, he was an investment manager with Hines Interests on its portfolio management team for the National Office Partners (CalPERS) partnership.

Mark McCarthy joined Shorenstein in 2000. He is responsible for leading the company’s debt capital markets activities nationwide, including mortgage financings, partnership credit lines, and hedging arrangements.

Mr. McCarthy is on the board of governors for the Commercial Real Estate Finance Council, a board member of the Lincoln Center Real Estate and Construction Council, an executive committee member of Urban Land Institute New York District Council, and a member of the Urban Land Institute.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. McCarthy was a vice president at General Electric Investments and GE Capital where his responsibilities included real estate acquisitions, dispositions and financings. Prior to General Electric, Mr. McCarthy was a director at Aetna Realty Investors and a senior accountant at Arthur Young.

Mr. McCarthy graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a B.B.A., and from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business with an M.B.A. Mr. McCarthy is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Meg Spriggs joined Shorenstein in 2013. She is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and overseeing the execution of multifamily transactions for the Shorenstein family, including financing, acquiring, entitling, developing, managing and divesting of properties. In addition, she supports other Shorenstein professionals in the evaluation and execution of mixed-use projects with a multifamily component.

Ms. Spriggs is a member of the Urban Land Institute, Lambda Alpha International, and the San Francisco Urban Planning and Research Association.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Ms. Spriggs was a vice president of development for AvalonBay Communities, Inc. where she was responsible for land acquisition, design, entitlement, and permitting, as well as oversight of the construction and lease-up of multifamily properties in the San Francisco Bay Area region.

Gregg Meyer joined Shorenstein in 2000 and worked as an asset manager until 2005. He rejoined Shorenstein in 2007 as an asset manager and was promoted to Head of Asset Management in 2013. His responsibilities include overseeing the management and administration of the Asset Management Group, including establishing management and operating policies, practices and standards, and overseeing the development and implementation of investment strategies for all company properties.

Mr. Meyer is a member of National Association of Industrial and Office Properties.

Prior to joining Shorenstein in 2000, Mr. Meyer was a vice president at Prudential Real Estate Investors, overseeing a West Coast portfolio that included over 30 assets located in five western states. From 2005 until 2007, Mr. Meyer worked at Alecta, a Swedish pension fund, as an asset and acquisitions manager responsible for managing an East Coast portfolio and sourcing, evaluating and underwriting acquisition opportunities across all U.S. markets.

Ronnie Ragoff joined Shorenstein in 2004. She is responsible for overseeing asset management activities and developing and executing investment strategies for a portfolio of the company’s assets located in New York City and Minneapolis.

Ms. Ragoff is a member of WX, an organization of senior women in New York real estate. She is co-chairman of the International/Domestic seminar committee for the Real Estate Board of New York.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Ms. Ragoff was a senior vice president at LaSalle Investment Management (formerly Jones Lang Wootton) where she worked for 23 years handling asset management for both a diversified offshore client base and fund assets on a national basis.

Ms. Ragoff graduated from George Washington University with a B.A., Columbia Teachers College with an M.A. and Rutgers University with an M.B.A.

Chris Caltabiano joined Shorenstein in 2016.  He is responsible for overseeing asset management activities and developing and executing investment strategies for a portfolio of the company’s assets located in Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Caltabiano was a vice president at AIG Global Real Estate, where he was responsible for sourcing new equity investments and managing the East Coast asset management team. Prior to AIGGRE, Mr. Caltabiano served as an associate for Rockwood Real Estate Advisors, and as an analyst and consultant at Bloomberg Financial Markets.

Mr. Caltabiano graduated from St. Johns University with a B.S., and from NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate with an M.S. He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate and a frequent lecturer on real estate, corporate finance, valuation and risk management at the New York Institute of Finance, Technical University of Berlin and University of Amsterdam. His research on these subjects has been published in the Real Estate Review.

Jim Pierre joined Shorenstein in 2000. His responsibilities include overseeing asset management activities and developing and executing investment strategies for a portfolio of the company’s assets located in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Pierre was a vice president at iStar Financial, where he was responsible for the asset management of 68 properties, totaling over five million square feet. Prior to iStar, Mr. Pierre worked in asset and portfolio management as a vice president at GE Capital Investment Advisors and as portfolio manager for RREEF Funds.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Grafft was a vice president with Jones Lang LaSalle Management Services, where he was responsible for the oversight of operations for an 11 million square foot investment portfolio. Prior to JLL, Mr. Grafft was a property manager with Potts & Associates, a development company located in the San Francisco East Bay.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Brush was director of institutional reporting at Interstate Equities, where he was responsible for overseeing the finances and performance reporting for a six-property portfolio.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Wick was a senior associate at Ernst & Young advising real estate and technology clients. Previously, he was an analyst at Base Capital, a boutique private equity real estate investment company based in Bellevue, WA.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Esposito was an analyst at Monday Properties, where he was responsible for assisting with acquisitions and investment management. Previously, he was an analyst in the Transaction Real Estate practice at Ernst & Young, advising real estate clients.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Corey was an investment analyst for Mousse Partners, an institutionally sized family office where he performed due diligence on global private equity funds, primarily in the real estate, infrastructure and resources sector.

Todd Sklar joined Shorenstein in 2006. He is responsible for overseeing the company’s office development activities nationwide, including site evaluation, entitlement, design, construction, project management, and initial tenant improvements.

Mr. Sklar is a member of the Urban Land Institute and the American Institute of Architects, is licensed to practice architecture in California and New York, and is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Sklar was a principal of Mezzatesta Sklar, a San Francisco-based development service and planning firm, for twelve years. Prior to Mezzatesta Sklar, he practiced architecture at EHDD in San Francisco and Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer in New York.

Mr. Sklar graduated from The University of Oregon School of Architecture and Allied Arts with a Bachelor of Architecture, where he currently serves as a board member.

Jeanie Rainer joined Shorenstein in 1998. She is responsible for supporting and executing the company’s office development activities nationwide, including site evaluation, entitlement, design, construction, project management, and initial tenant improvements.

Ms. Rainer is a member of the Urban Land Institute and serves as president of the board of directors for the historic Paramount Theatres of the Arts in Oakland.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Ms. Rainer was a facilities design and construction manager at Blue Shield of California.

Ms. Rainer graduated from UC Davis with a B.S., and from California College of the Arts with an M.F.A. She is a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).

Sandra Shorenstein joined Shorenstein in 2017. Ms. Shorenstein is responsible for overseeing the investment performance of a multifamily portfolio owned by the Shorenstein family.  In addition, Ms. Shorenstein serves as a vice president of DWS Management Company LLC, the company that supports and advises the Shorenstein family with respect to its overall investment business activities.

Ms. Shorenstein is a member of the Urban Land Institute.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Ms. Shorenstein spent two years at Prado Group, a real estate development and investment management company located in San Francisco. Ms. Shorenstein was responsible for various aspects of Prado’s development of 3333 California Street, a 10.3 acre master development of the old UCSF campus in Laurel Heights. She led the project’s communication efforts, design processes and built comprehensive valuation models to assess the financial merits of multiple development scenarios for the project.

Ms. Shorenstein graduated from University of Pennsylvania with a B.A., and from UCLA Anderson School of Management with an M.B.A.

Tim Johnson joined Shorenstein in 2014. He is responsible for evaluating and executing multifamily transactions across the United States, including the acquisition, financing, entitlement, development and divestment of assets.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Johnson was an analyst at M3 Capital Partners, a real estate investment and transaction advisory firm spanning a broad range of core and alternative real estate sectors.

David Jaber joined Shorenstein in 1995 and worked as a property manager until 2001. He rejoined Shorenstein in 2005 as senior vice president, with responsibility for the operational systems and training platforms utilized for management of the company’s national real estate portfolio. He also leads the operational transition process for acquisitions and dispositions.

Mr. Jaber is a board member of the Building Owners and Managers Association of San Francisco, a member of the Institute for Real Estate Management, and a member of the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Jaber was a Senior Vice President at PM Realty Group (1995 and 2001-2005), managing eight million square feet of commercial property located in Northern California.

Drew Dowsett joined Shorenstein in 2002. He is responsible for oversight and management of the company’s accounting and audit and tax functions, including budgeting, forecasting, and treasury services. He is also responsible for the company’s risk management and corporate secretary functions.

Mr. Dowsett is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of The California Society of CPAs. He is a member of the board of directors of the Office Technology and Operations Consortium and also serves as a board member for the Northern California Private Equity Real Estate Chapter of the Financial Executives Alliance.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Dowsett was Chief Financial Officer for Milepost Industries and prior to that served as Chief Financial Officer for The Swig Company. Mr. Dowsett has also worked as Controller for The Charles Schwab Corporation and as an audit manager for Deloitte & Touche.

Ashia Derksen joined Shorenstein in 2003. She is responsible for the organization and administration of the Portfolio Accounting Group, including budgeting, staffing, training and establishment of standards, policies and procedures. The Portfolio Accounting Group performs fund and property reporting and supports execution of capital transactions.

Ms. Derksen is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of CPAs. She is also a member of Financial Women of San Francisco, which advances professionalism among executive women in finance and financial services.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Ms. Derksen was a senior audit manager at EY and at Arthur Andersen, where she served public and private real estate clients.

Walter Shorenstein joined the brokerage firm Milton Meyer & Company in 1946 after being discharged from military service as a Major. In 1951, he was made a partner in the firm, and in 1953 he was named a “Leader of Tomorrow” by Time Magazine. By 1960, Mr. Shorenstein had become president and sole owner of Milton Meyer & Company (which was subsequently renamed Shorenstein Company). Under his leadership, Shorenstein Company became the largest owner and operator of Class A office buildings in San Francisco, and forged lasting relationships with institutional partners such as IBM, Bechtel, MetLife and Bank of America.  After Mr. Shorenstein stepped back from day-to-day management of the company in the early 1990s, his deep experience continued to offer the company an important source of strategic guidance and advice.  In recognition of his business accomplishments and his contributions to the civic life of the Bay Area, Mr. Shorenstein was inducted into the University of Southern California’s Real Estate Hall of Fame in 1997, and the Bay Area Council’s Business Hall of Fame in 1998.

Mr. Shorenstein demonstrated his interest in building a better community and nation through his philanthropic and political activities. He was a steadfast supporter of the Democratic Party, and in 1997 received the Democratic National Committee’s Lifetime Achievement Award.  Mr. Shorenstein was an advisor to Presidents Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, and Bill Clinton.

In 1993, Mr. Shorenstein played a major role in forming an investor group to retain the San Francisco Giants when they were considering a move to Florida, in 1995, Mr. Shorenstein chaired the United Nations 50th Anniversary Charter Commemorative Celebration in San Francisco, and in 2009 Mr. Shorenstein worked with the Clinton Global Initiative to support the recovery of New Orleans’ Broadmoor neighborhood following Hurricane Katrina.

In memory of his daughter Joan, Mr. Shorenstein and his late wife, Phyllis, founded the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. He also sponsored the Shorenstein Initiative at Stanford University’s Asia/Pacific Research Center, as well as programs at UC Berkeley’s Institute of East Asian Studies.

Doug Shorenstein joined the family business in 1983 and became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in 1995. Under his leadership, the company evolved from a San Francisco-focused real estate operating company into a real estate investment, development and management company, active throughout the United States.

Mr. Shorenstein supported numerous civic and philanthropic causes and served on the board of many such institutions, including Environmental Defense Fund, UCSF Medical Center, The Real Estate Roundtable, the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, Vanderbilt University, and Yale School of Management.

In 1993, Mr. Shorenstein worked closely with his father in forming an investor group to retain the San Francisco Giants when they were considering a move to Florida.

In 2007, Mr. Shorenstein was elected to the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, and served as its chairman in 2011 and 2012.

Working with the Environmental Defense Fund, in 2013, Mr. Shorenstein established the Building Energy Initiative which created a replicable model for building owners to cost-effectively identify and implement energy management practices that drive both costs savings and emissions reductions.

In recognition of his business accomplishments and his contributions to the civic life of the Bay Area, Mr. Shorenstein was inducted into the Bay Area Council’s Business Hall of Fame in 2011.

In memory of his father, Mr. Shorenstein and his wife, Lydia, established the Walter Shorenstein Media and Democracy Fellowship at the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.

Len Baker has been a partner of Sutter Hill Ventures, Silicon Valley’s oldest venture capital firm, since 1973. He is also responsible for Sutter Hill’s sponsorship of Chengwei Ventures, a Shanghai-based venture firm which makes venture investments in China, and of Golden Gate Capital, a technology buyout firm.

Prior to working with Sutter Hill, Mr. Baker worked for Cummins Engine Company, a manufacturer of diesel engines. Prior to Cummins, Mr. Baker worked for Delta Foundation, a community-owned minority business development firm started by civil rights leaders in Greenville, Mississippi.

Currently, Mr. Baker serves on the board of Corcept Therapeutics and several private companies. Mr. Baker is also a board member of Stanford Management Company, the firm that manages the Stanford University endowment. He serves on the Investment Board of GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, and is a member of Singapore’s International Academic Advisory Panel. Additionally, Mr. Baker is an advisor to the Packard Foundation Investment Committee, and a board member of the Environmental Defense Fund and a Trustee of Berklee College of Music. Mr. Baker was a trustee of Yale University from 2000 through 2012, where he chaired the Finance and Trusteeship Committees. He was a member of the Yale Investment Committee, the group that oversees Yale’s endowment, from 1990 through 2015.

Mr. Baker earned a B.A. in mathematics from Yale University and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

William Poorvu is the Class of 1961 Adjunct Professor in Entrepreneurship Emeritus at Harvard Business School. For several decades, he was responsible for and taught the real estate courses at HBS. He is the author of several books and articles on real estate, including Creating and Growing Real Estate Wealth and The Real Estate Game.

Mr. Poorvu has been managing partner in a number of real estate companies and has served as consultant to various organizations in the private and public sectors. He is a founder and past chairman of the Baupost Group L.L.C., an investment advisory firm. Mr. Poorvu formerly served as an independent trustee of the MFS Group of Mutual Funds, and as director of CBL & Associates, Trammell Crow Realty Investors, and Connecticut General Mortgage and Realty Investments. He is also a past vice chairman/treasurer of Boston Broadcasters, Inc., licensee of Channel 5, WCVB-TV Boston.

Mr. Poorvu is a life trustee and former vice chairman and treasurer of the Boston Symphony Orchestra; life trustee and former treasurer of the Gardner Museum; trustee emeritus and former vice chairman of the National Public Radio Foundation; fellow of The American Academy of Arts and Sciences; former member of the investment committee of the Carnegie Corporation of New York; and former member of the Yale University Council and its Investment Committee. He has also served on the board of other non-profit and community organizations.

Mr. Poorvu earned a B.A. from Yale University and an M.B.A from Harvard Business School.

Richard Rosenberg is the retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BankAmerica Corporation, serving from 1990 to 1996. Prior to joining Bank of America in 1987, Mr. Rosenberg worked at Wells Fargo Bank for 22 years, his last years serving as Vice Chairman and Director.

Mr. Rosenberg is a retired commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve, a member of the California Bar Association, a trustee of the California Institute of Technology, a past president of The Bankers Roundtable, the Bank Marketing Association, the Federal Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve System and a past chairman of MasterCard International. He is a member of the board of directors of the Buck Institute for Age Research, the San Francisco Symphony, and the Naval War College Foundation and is past chairman of the University of California San Francisco Foundation and chairman of the executive council of the University of California Medical Center. He has served as the Chairman of the Board for ABX Air, and as a director of Airborne Express Corporation, Health Care Property, SBC Communications, UCSF-Stanford Health Care, Chronicle Publishing Company, Northrop Grumman Corporation, Pacific Life Insurance Company, and Premier Pacific Vineyards. He is a member of American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Mike Rossi began working with Shorenstein as a consultant in 1994, focusing on business planning, organizational development and succession planning. In 1996, Mr. Rossi was a founding member of the company’s advisory board and currently serves as its chairman.  Upon Doug Shorenstein’s death in 2016, Mr. Rossi became chairman of the company. In 2017, he became co-chairman, working closely with Brandon Shorenstein to oversee and guide the strategic direction of the company. He is chairman of the company’s executive committee and a member of its investment committee.

Mr. Rossi is a retired vice chairman of Bank of America Corporation, serving from 1993 to 1997. Prior to serving as vice chairman, Mr. Rossi was Bank of America’s Chief Credit Officer. Prior to that post, he held various executive positions. In 2003, he joined the executive committee of Cerberus Capital Management. From 2005 to 2007, Mr. Rossi was chairman and CEO of Aozora Bank, taking it public in November 2006. He also spent eight months as chairman of GMAC/ResCap.

Mr. Rossi is the senior advisor to the San Francisco 49ers, and lead director of the board of Five Points Corporation, and he is a former chairman of the board of the Claremont Graduate University.  He is a former senior advisor for Jobs and Economic Development for the Governor of the State of California, chairman of the California Workforce Development Board, a director of the California High Speed Rail Authority, chairman of the board of the Monterey Institute of International Studies, Lifesavers, the California Infrastructure and Economic Development Bank, Visit California, California China Trade Association, Energy Principal for the State of California, the American Diabetes Association of Northern California, Chairman of CASA, chairman of Cal Competes, board member of the San Francisco Opera, and board member of the University of California Art Museum. Sarah Stein is a Managing Partner at Hall Capital Partners LLC. She is also a member of the firm’s Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Management Committee, and Investment Review Committee.

Ms. Stein joined the firm in 2002 in the Portfolio Management practice. She was promoted to managing director and moved to the Research Group in 2006 where she held several roles including co-director of research and head of capital markets. Ms. Stein was appointed president of the firm in 2012. Her prior experience includes working in the Investment Management Division at Goldman Sachs & Co., the Fisher Family Foundation, and teaching English in Guangzhou, China.

Ms. Stein serves on the Princeton Endowment (PRINCO) Board and the San Francisco Day School Board. She also serves on the Board of Directors and Investment Committee of Rosenberg Foundation and the Investment Committee of the San Francisco Foundation. Ms. Stein is a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO). She previously served as a Trustee of Princeton University, the Breakthrough Collaborative, KIPP Bayview Academy, and the San Francisco Foundation.

Ms. Stein graduated cum laude from Princeton University with an A.B. in History. She also earned an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and an M.A. from the Stanford School of Education.

David Swensen is Yale’s Chief Investment Officer, oversees $25 billion in Endowment assets and several hundreds of millions of dollars of other investment funds. Under his stewardship during the past 30 years, the Yale Endowment generated returns of 14.1 percent per annum, a record unequalled among institutional investors. When he began in 1985, the Endowment totaled $1 billion and support for the operating budget amounted to $45 million. Today, budget contributions total $1.2 billion. Mr. Swensen leads a staff of 30, located near the University’s campus in downtown New Haven.

Prior to joining Yale in 1985, Mr. Swensen spent six years on Wall Street – three years at Lehman Brothers and three years at Salomon Brothers – where his work focused on developing new financial technologies. At Salomon Brothers, he structured the first swap, a currency transaction involving IBM and the World Bank. Mr. Swensen authored Pioneering Portfolio Management: An Unconventional Approach to Institutional Investment and Unconventional Success: A Fundamental Approach to Personal Investment, both published by The Free Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. His books have been translated into Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.

Mr. Swensen won numerous awards, including: in 2014, an honorary degree from Yale, Doctor of Humane Letters; in 2012, the Yale Medal for outstanding individual service to the University; in 2015, an honorary degree from Bowdoin, Doctor of Humane Letters; in 2008, a fellowship in the American Academy of Arts & Sciences; in 2007, the Mory’s Cup for conspicuous service to Yale; in 2007, the Hopkins Medal for commitment, devotion and loyalty to Hopkins School; and in 2004, the Inaugural Institutional Investor Award for Excellence in Investment Management. At Yale, where he teaches students in Yale College and at the School of Management, he is a Fellow of Berkeley College, an Incorporator of the Elizabethan Club, and a Fellow of the International Center for Finance.

In 2013, Yale named the Berkeley College Master’s Residence “Swensen House” in his honor. In 2014, Hopkins School named the Head of School’s Residence “Swensen House.” In 2015, Yale named the Hall of Graduate Studies Tower “David Swensen Tower.” At Yale, the women’s tennis coach is the Swensen-McMahon Head Coach of Women’s Tennis and Steve Berry holds the David F. Swensen Chair in Economics.

Mr. Swensen has served on Shorenstein’s Advisory Board since its inception in 1996 and in 2017 he became Board Emeritus. He advised the President of the United States as a member of the President’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board. He served as trustee or advisor to the Brookings Institution, Cambridge University, the Carnegie Corporation, the Carnegie Institution of Washington, the Hopkins School, TIAA, Major League Baseball, the New York Stock Exchange, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the Courtauld Institute of Art, the Yale New Haven Hospital, the Investment Fund for Foundations, the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation and the States of Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Mr. Swensen earned B.A. and B.S. degrees from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and a Ph.D in economics from Yale University.
